Description
- Discover the world of ceramics as you learn to shape clay on the wheel and build expressive forms by hand. Students will learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing and handbuilding while becoming familiar with the workflow of the Civic Park Ceramics Studio. Each week will include demonstrations focused on a specific technique, followed by time for students to apply those skills to their own projects. This course will also cover finishing processes such as glazing, using colored slips on greenware, and applying surface designs. Continuing students may expand their practice with advanced skills, including throwing taller forms, creating closed shapes, and exploring additional finishing methods. Clay is not included in the course fee. A bag of stoneware may be purchased for a $35 fee.
