Ridgeline Views

Acalanes Ridge may be one of Walnut Creek's smallest open spaces, but its ridgeline offers some of the area's biggest views. A short climb rewards hikers with sweeping panoramas that stretch across central Contra Costa County, making this one of the region's most scenic hidden gems.

From the ridgeline, you can look north toward the Carquinez Strait and Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta, east to Mount Diablo, and west across the Oakland Hills and Las Trampas Regional Wilderness. On clear days, the surrounding valleys and open spaces unfold in every direction.

Although Acalanes Ridge covers just 202 acres, its elevated trails, peaceful setting, and expansive vistas make it feel much larger. It's an ideal destination for photographers, sunset seekers, and anyone looking for a rewarding hike without venturing far from the city.
