Description
The Walnut Creek Open Space Division is looking for help leading school tours at The Old Borges Ranch in Shell Ridge.
- Age range Pre-K through 5th grade
- Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 9:30AM – 11:30AM
- Commitment of 2 hours per week primarily during the Spring and Fall when school is in session
Docents provide walking tours of Borges Ranch which include:
- Historical information of the site and Borges family
- Interpretation of what life was like living on the Ranch in the early 1900’s
- Outdoor activities including pumping water, sawing wood, lariat toss, and farm animal interactions
- Tour the inside of the Historic 1901 Borges Ranch House and 1903 Carriage Barn
- Teaching children about farm animals that live on the ranch including sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens
