Kovar Trail to Ridge Top Trail Loop

Starting from Howe Homestead Park, this scenic loop follows the Kovar and Ridge Top trails through the rolling hills of Shell Ridge Open Space. Along the way you'll hike across open grasslands, oak woodlands, and panoramic ridgelines, with sweeping views of Mount Diablo, the Diablo Foothills, and the surrounding valleys.

This 5.4-mile loop features 997 feet of elevation gain, making it a rewarding moderate hike with steady climbs and expansive viewpoints.
