Hanna Grove, Briones to Mount Diablo Regional, and Borges Ranch Loop

Starting from historic Borges Ranch, this scenic loop follows Hanna Grove, Briones to Mount Diablo Regional, and Borges Ranch trails through the rolling hills of Shell Ridge Open Space. Along the way you'll hike across open grasslands, oak woodlands, and scenic ridgelines, with sweeping views of Mount Diablo, Walnut Creek, and the surrounding Diablo Foothills.

This 4.3-mile loop features 816 feet of elevation gain, making it a rewarding moderate hike with a mix of steady climbs and panoramic viewpoints. Beginning and ending at Borges Ranch, the route combines local history, peaceful backcountry trails, and some of the preserve's most scenic landscapes into one memorable adventure.
