Description
Starting from Lime Ridge Open Space, this loop follows the Ohlone and Buckeye Trails through rolling grasslands and scattered oak woodlands before returning along a scenic ridgeline. Along the way you'll enjoy expansive views across Walnut Creek, the East Bay hills, and, on clear days, the distant San Francisco Bay.
This 3.3-mile loop climbs 633 feet, offering a rewarding mix of steady elevation gain, open landscapes, and seasonal wildflowers. Wildlife is commonly seen throughout the preserve, making this a favorite route for hikers looking to experience Lime Ridge's wide-open scenery.
Note: Dogs are not permitted in the Lime Ridge Wildlife Preserve south of Ygnacio Valley Road. South of the preserve, dogs are allowed on leash only.
