Description

Starting from the Ygnacio Valley Road trailhead, this scenic loop explores the northern section of Lime Ridge Open Space through rolling grasslands, native chaparral, and oak woodlands. Along the way you'll climb to panoramic viewpoints overlooking Walnut Creek, Concord, and the surrounding Diablo Foothills while enjoying one of the preserve's most expansive ridge walks.

This 2.4-mile loop features 518 feet of elevation gain, making it a rewarding moderate hike with steady climbs and sweeping vistas. The route offers a peaceful introduction to Lime Ridge's northern trails, where open hillsides, seasonal wildflowers, and abundant wildlife create a classic East Bay hiking experience.
